The program includes a range of tools to help you:

A comprehensive Users Manual (approx 280 pages) - hard copy and access to it from within the program
For the inexperienced user, there is a tutorial, giving useful "walk throughs" of the main features
You can press [F1] at any point to get help on that part of the program
WISP Web Help - useful topics relating to intakes/recipes/menus; only available within WISP.

Sample food intake record booklets - for both weighed and unweighed records
Database of portion sizes (4,000 food records). Many of these have three portion sizes. You can add more portion weights. If you have the Photographic Food Atlas, there is help to assist you

Sample physical activity diary
Database of energy expenditure values for 300 activities. You can add more activities to this
WISP can update itself, at the touch of a button (internet connection necessary)
Nutrient databank updates, at the touch of a button (internet connection necessary)

Nutrient Databank

You can add up to 8,000 foods to the nutrient databank. You can also add additional nutrients.
There is a mmol-g converter for minerals, which helps if you have data in mmol.
There is an IU-g converter for vitamins, which helps if you have data in International Units.
For the EU, you can enter nutrients expressed as in EU Food Labelling Regulations or expressed as in the UK food composition tables. WISP will convert values, as appropriate, so that stored nutrient data are consistent with data in the nutrient databank supplied by HMSO/OPSI (kcal/kJ, carbohydrate, starch and sugars).
When a food is entered into the nutrient databank, WISP performs a number of checks on the data to ensure quality of the data is adequate, before storing data for the food and alerts the user to problems with the data quality, i.e. the food contains carbohydrate but contains neither starch nor sugars.
