For each recipe, RecipE-book shows a list of ingredients and quantities, information on how to make the dish, indications on ease of preparation, preparation time and cost (inexpensive, moderate or expensive), a photograph of the finished dish and the nutrient composition of the dish per serving.
The nutrient composition is also shown in the format recommended by the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) and is shown as a combined FSA/food industry panel. The FSA panel shows whether the dish is low (green), medium (amber) or high (red) for fat, saturates, sugars and salt. The FSA/food industry combined panel includes the energy (Calories) content of the recipe per serving and percentages of Guideline Daily Amounts (GDAs).
Main users for the program are caterers and dietitians. RecipE-book enables caterers to give copies of their recipes to colleagues who are planning menus. RecipE-book enables dietitians to give recipes to patients that are appropriate to their special diet, e.g.calorie controlled, milk free, gluten free, etc. Users find that this presentation format is more professional than mere photocopied paper sheets and patients find that following their special diet is a little easier and more interesting.
Users of WISP can purchase the RecipE-book Data Creator software (includes Labelling Options Pack) for an additional £300 Sterling (€393). For this, they can output recipes in RecipE-book format and email them to colleagues or patients. The RecipE-book software itself is free of charge from our website. Recipes received from a WISP user can be automatically imported into RecipE-book.
