You can perform nutritional queries on the food composition database. This function enables you to
obtain lists of foods that comply with user-specified nutritional criteria, e.g. <3g of fat per 100g.
Lists can be obtained for any one nutrient or for combinations of up to five nutrients, for example:
"<3g fat and >5g fibre and >120mg calcium and <100mg sodium and >2mg iron".
Lists can be produced for foods that comply with the specified nutrient criteria per 100g, per portion, or per other specified amount. Lists can be viewed on screen or printed out.
This feature is particularly useful in helping students to familiarise themselves with the types of foods that are rich or poor in particular nutrients. It may also be helpful to dietitians when preparing lists of foods suitable for various special diets.
